CALLIOPE POETRY READING SESSION ON EMILY DICKINSON

On February 23, 2026, a Poetry Reading Session dedicated to Emily Dickinson was held in Hall 1 of the Central Auditorium at Integral University. Dr. Fatima Sahrish, Organizing Secretary of the Research Club, Calliope, Department of Languages, organized the event.

The Research Club aims to foster a vibrant culture of scholarly inquiry, interdisciplinary collaboration, and innovation among faculty, research scholars, and students. This initiative aligns with the university's vision of promoting research excellence and knowledge dissemination in the humanities and linguistics.

Prof. H.M. Arif opened the event, emphasizing Dickinson's relevance and timeless appeal. The session celebrated the enigmatic poetry of Emily Dickinson, focusing on her themes of death, immortality, nature, and the inner life. It drew over 35 participants, including students, faculty, and literature enthusiasts.

The event aligned with the SDGs 4 (Quality Education) and 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) that aimed to foster an appreciation for Dickinson's literary legacy and to provide a platform for engaging with her complex yet beautiful poetry. Participants had the opportunity to delve into the nuances of her verse and reflect on the historical and cultural contexts that shaped her writing. The session successfully highlighted the timeless relevance of Dickinson's observations and her enduring impact on literature.
