The Department of Community Medicine, Integral Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, organized a symposium on February 17th, 2026 on the occasion of Filariasis Elimination Program Awareness campaign, celebrated annually across India from February 10th, to February 15th every year.
The event brought together healthcare professionals, researchers, public health officials, and students to deliberate on the epidemiology, diagnosis, treatment, and elimination programs related to the disease. The program aimed to educate students and the community about the causes, symptoms, prevention, and treatment of lymphatic filariasis.
The speakers were Prutha Dharmale, MBBS 2023 batch, Maimuna Gubo Makinta, MPH scholar, Sara, MBBS 2023 and Dr. Pushkal Singh, PGY2, Dept. of Community Medicine, IIMSR. The symposium successfully concluded with vote of thanks given by Dr. Samreen Khan, Assistant Professor, Department of Community Medicine, IIMSR. The event successfully fostered interdisciplinary collaboration and reinforced the global commitment to eliminate lymphatic filariasis as a public health problem.
