Integral University Lucknow Convocation: Celebrating Student Achievements

Convocation 2017- Sky is the limit now, 2322 Integral graduates look towards the future.

IU Convocation is an annual highlight in the University .It’s an important milestone in the educational journey both for students as well as for the University that has a proud history and distinguished lineage that dates back to 2004.

The IX Convocation of the Integral University was graced by the Chief Guest Padma Bhushan Prof. R. B. The IX Integral University Convocation, coinciding with the Foundation Day of the University, was held on 3 rd November 2017, in the lawns of the University with full house of students and faculty in their customary robes.

The ceremony began with the University Tarana which set the tone of this IX Convocation on a pleasant November morning. Dr. S. R. Azmi Nadvi, Chancellor of the University, declared the Convocation open.

Prof. Jamal M. Arif, acting Vice Chancellor, initiated the Convocation by delivering the welcome address to the house full of dignitaries and students. He expressed his regards to the presiding guests for elevating the aura of the occasion. Prof. Arif mentioned the various achievements of the University in recent years and reinforced that Integral has always strived to be a centre of excellence.

Prof. S. W. Akhtar, founder of the University, welcomed the guests and bestowed his blessings on the successful and meritorious students who received their degrees. As many as 2322 students from 12 departments were awarded degrees and 43 students received gold and silver medals. Also 55 research scholars were awarded Ph.D. Degrees.

Chief Guest Padma Bhushan Prof. R. B. Singh, Chancellor, Central Agricultural University, Imphal, delivered the Convocation address, and described the unique University as the custodian of the Lakhnawi culture and its outstanding contribution in science, education and values. Mentioning the University, he said that there was always something in a name. Prof. Singh referred to Ken Wilber’s Integral theory, an attempt to place a wide diversity of theories and thinkers into one single framework. He praised the faculty members and the staff who have contributed in science and in raising the standards of education, thereby shaping the young minds to take the nation forward. “Height of a nation is often judged by the height of its teachers and students.” he remarked.

Prof. Singh quoted Rabindra Nath Tagore, saying that, "the highest education is that which does not merely give us information but makes our life in harmony with all existence."

Calling on the graduating class at Integral University to be passionate about the field they choose, Padma Shri Prof. M. M. Godbole, Head, Department of Molecular Medicine, Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow, highlighted the importance of enthusiasm lead by Perspiration, Perseverance and Resilience. “One must remember the teachers and administration when receiving these degrees and awards as it is because of them that the flow of education and grants reach the students,” he emphasized.

Padma Shri Prof. Akhtarul Wasey, President, Maulana Azad University, Jodhpur, was conferred the degree of D.Litt. (Honoris Causa) by the Hon'ble Chancellor, Integral University, for his immense contributions in the fields of Language and Theological Studies.

Following the speeches by dignitaries, a pledge was taken by graduating students to utilize their knowledge in the service of the nation in its march towards a just, inclusive, and sustainable society.

Throughout the programme, the sense of pride and achievement was noticeable among the students, families, the faculty and staff of the University.

The event ended with a ray of hope and joy that is sure to inspire the students and faculty of Integral University in the years ahead.
