Department Overview

It’s my pleasure to welcome you to the Department of Mass Communication at Integral University, Lucknow.

In today’s rapidly evolving world, media plays a crucial role in shaping public opinion, informing society, and strengthening democratic values. Journalism and Mass Communication is no longer limited to newspapers and television; it has expanded into a vibrant ecosystem of digital platforms, social media, podcasts, streaming services, and mobile journalism.

The contemporary media landscape is being transformed by technological innovations, particularly the growing integration of Artificial Intelligence in content creation, data analysis, news distribution, and audience engagement.

Another remarkable development is the rapid rise of the ‘Creator Economy’, where individuals are building independent media platforms through YouTube channels, podcasts, blogs, digital magazines, and social media storytelling.

This shift has created unprecedented opportunities for aspiring media professionals to become content creators, digital journalists, and media entrepreneurs, reaching audiences across the globe. The boom in digital media platforms and online content industries has significantly expanded career opportunities for students pursuing media studies.

Recognizing these changes, the Department of Mass Communication at Integral University is committed to preparing students for the future of the media industry. We currently offer two dynamic and specialized programmes:

  • Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication (BAJMC).
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Digital & Broadcast Media (PGDDBM).

These programmes are designed to provide students with a strong foundation in media theory while emphasizing intensive practical and industry-oriented training. Our focus is on developing versatile media professionals who can work across multiple platforms including print, television, digital media, and film production.

Students at our department receive hands-on training in a wide range of media skills such as news reporting, television production, digital content creation, podcasting, video editing, filmmaking, camera operations, photography, multimedia storytelling, advertising, and public relations.

With the rapid expansion of the entertainment and content industry, opportunities in filmmaking, television production, cinematography, documentary production, photography, and visual storytelling are growing rapidly, offering exciting career pathways for creative individuals.

To support this training, the department is equipped with state-of-the-art modern media infrastructure, including a fully functional Television studio, Production Control Room (PCR), and Multimedia Labs.

Having spent nearly two decades in the television news industry, working with leading mainstream national news channels, I strongly believe that effective media education must bridge the gap between classroom learning and industry practices. At our department, we strive to provide students with real-world exposure and professional skills that make them truly industry-ready.

I warmly invite aspiring communicators, storytellers, and creative thinkers to join us and become part of a vibrant academic environment dedicated to excellence in media education, innovation, and professional growth.
