Integral held special Cross Cultural Panel Discussion on "What Can I Do for Social Change".

Centre for Career Guidance and Development, Integral University headed by Dr. Nilanjan Mukherji, Director, CCG&D and his team successfully organized a Cross-Cultural Panel Discussion on “What can I do for Social Change”, in collaboration with the NGO foundation Manavodaya, on Thursday, 4th April’2019.
Manavodaya is a Lucknow-based NGO focusing on providing basic education facilities to girls and the needy. It has developed important ways of working that other organizations and individuals can learn from. Manavodaya’s approach has been developed in rural India, working alongside village communities where poverty is at its most extreme. The approach can be used by anyone who wants to make positive and sustainable social change.

The Panel discussion was set-up with two teams consisting of six members each, debating on the theme of “What Can I Do for Social Change”. One team was from Integral University, consisting of students from different countries- Afghanistan, Nigeria, Sudan and India, and the second team was from Manavodaya which had particpants from Norway and Sweden. The Panel was moderated by Mr. Najamuddin Farooqui.

The event began with an introduction from Mr. Varun Vidyarthi, Founder of Manavodaya NGO. He explained the vision behind Manavodaya stating, “Manavodaya is a Sanskrit word which means Human Awakening.” He spoke about the direction in life that if we want to see any change in the society, we should first start changing ourselves.


The participants from different countries shared their viewpoints on various topics such as Gender Equality, Women Empowerment, Individual responsibilities, Importance of Education, Knowledge etc., to bring out the social change in the society. The debate concluded with the thought that the best way to explore life is to connect with poorest section of the society. The event highlighted the multicultural feelings of oneness and unity dwelling in the hearts of the students of Integral University.

The event concluded with the vote of thanks and thought provoking words from Dr. Syed Nadeem Akhtar (Director, Planning and Research) on Women Equality and the importance of Education in our life. He quoted the famous saying-


“Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.”

He further said that the Education is the most powerful weapon to bring change in the society. The overall event was very motivational and full of zest.
