The Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in the year 1999. It offers degrees related to B.Tech.,M.Tech. and. Ph.D. programmes. The department is NBA accredited as “B” in the year 2009.

The department has a committed and highly experienced team of faculty members, well established laboratories and state of the art workshop. The laboratories include Fluid Mechanics, Strength of Materials, Manufacturing Science, Engineering Drawing, CAD/CAM, Applied Thermodynamics, Dynamics of Machines, Materials Science, Metrology, Fluid Machinery, Refrigeration and Air conditioning, Heat and Mass Transfer and Automobile Engineering.

The educational objectives for Mechanical Engineering programme are designed to cover fundamental and vital areas of importance, relevant to both industry and research.

Objectives

1. To prepare students for successful careers in industry that meet the needs of Industries/ society and the country in general.
2. To develop the ability among students to synthesize data and technical concepts for application to mechanical engineering software.
3. To motivate students to accept new challenges for multidisplinary projects.
4. To provide students with a sound foundation in mathematical, scientific and engineering areas necessary to achieve excellence in solving and analysing engineering problems and to prepare them for graduate studies.
5. To promote and develop among the students an ambition of life-long learning and to apply them to professional ethics and codes of professional practices.
6. To provide the in depth knowledge of subjects so that they can participate and succeed in national and international challenges in the field of mechanical engineering.
