SDG 1 No Poverty

                                  Progress Report (2023–24)

SDG 16 Peace Justice and Strong Institutions

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) calls for the promotion of peaceful and inclusive societies, access to justice for all, and the establishment of effective, accountable, and transparent institutions at every level.

Integral University, Lucknow, stands firmly aligned with this vision. Recognizing the power of education in fostering social harmony and ethical leadership, the University continually strives to create an academic ecosystem rooted in fairness, transparency, inclusivity, and justice. The University’s initiatives under SDG 16 reflect its commitment to nurturing responsible citizens, strengthening governance structures, and supporting policies that promote peace and equity.

Inclusive Representation and Institutional Governance

Integral University ensures participatory governance through a diverse representation system. The leadership framework includes elected representatives from all key categories the Vice Chancellor, Registrar, Deans, Heads of Departments, Faculty members, Research personnel, Non-teaching staff, Student representatives, and Alumni representatives.

This inclusive structure fosters open dialogue, shared decision-making, and collective accountability across all levels of administration, ensuring that the voices of every stakeholder are heard and valued.

Student Union and Campus Democracy

At the heart of Integral University’s democratic spirit is the Student Council, a vibrant body that represents student interests and plays an essential role in creating a positive campus environment.

The Council is responsible for:

  1. Event Management – Organizing cultural, academic, and social programs.
  2. Leadership Development – Cultivating student leadership and responsibility.
  3. Student Welfare – Addressing student concerns and improving campus life.

Through this platform, students learn active citizenship, conflict resolution, and collaborative leadership, values that mirror the essence of SDG 16.

Community Engagement and Local Partnerships

Integral University actively collaborates with local governments, welfare organizations, and community stakeholders to build stronger social frameworks. Experts, academics, and representatives from various regional institutions are invited regularly for community dialogues and knowledge-sharing sessions.

The Integral Institute of Medical Sciences & Research (IIMSR) plays a central role in promoting community health and well-being through the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna (AB-PMJAY). As an empanelled hospital, IIMSR provides free, comprehensive healthcare to AB-PMJAY cardholders, promoting wellness and equality in access to medical services.

Further strengthening its social outreach, Integral University has adopted five villages Sansarpur, Padri, Ganguli, Gurvamau, and Thakuramau to provide continuous preventive, promotive, and primary healthcare. MBBS students are encouraged to “adopt” families, maintaining healthcare records and fostering personal engagement with rural communities throughout their medical training.

The University has also established rural and urban health centres in Sansarpur and Sarvodaya Nagar, ensuring that marginalized and underserved populations receive timely medical attention. Free medicine distribution, blood donation drives, and health awareness programs are regular features of the University’s social outreach.

During crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic, the University mobilized its medical and student resources to provide emergency healthcare, awareness, and relief to affected communities — a true reflection of its humanitarian mission.

Integrity, Ethics, and Anti-Corruption Commitment

Integrity lies at the foundation of Integral University’s institutional ethos. The University enforces a Zero-Tolerance Policy against bribery, corruption, and unethical conduct, ensuring complete transparency in all operations.

Its Code of Ethics and Compliance Policy outlines strict guidelines against any form of bribery, favouritism, or dishonest behavior by staff, students, or administrators. The policy mandates that no gifts or financial Favors of more than nominal value may be accepted without prior authorization.

The Internal Audit Department conducts a biennial review of the Anti-Corruption and Bribery Policy, while the Academic Council ensures its continual relevance and effectiveness. This framework promotes accountability, fosters ethical conduct, and builds public trust in the University’s operations.

Academic Freedom and Institutional Transparency

Integral University recognizes that academic freedom is essential for nurturing innovation and critical thought. The University’s Academic Freedom Policy (available at https://www.iul.ac.in/IQAC/Policy.aspx ) guarantees that scholars, researchers, and students can explore ideas freely and responsibly, contributing to a culture of open inquiry and respectful debate.

Financial transparency is maintained through regular publication of financial reports, reinforcing the University’s commitment to ethical governance and institutional accountability.

Expert Consultation and Government Collaboration

Integral University’s faculty and researchers serve as expert advisors to government agencies, providing data-driven insights and solutions to complex national challenges in health, education, climate, and technology.

By contributing specialized research and policy recommendations, the University helps in shaping evidence-based governance and socially responsive public policies.

Notably, 16 faculty members have been engaged in government-supported research projects in 2023, addressing critical issues like renewable energy, nanotechnology, public health, water security, and pollution control.

Some exemplary projects include:

  • Validation of anticancer potential of Unani medicines (Prof. Iffat Zareen Ahmad & Dr. Badruddeen, CCRUM).

  • AI-based underwater image detection systems for AUV navigation (Dr. Shish Ahmad, Genix Corporation).

Such collaborations reflect Integral University’s role as a knowledge partner for sustainable and equitable policy-making in India.
