Integral University alumni are the reflection of its past, representation of its present, and a link to its future. Alumni are a huge talent pool whose guidance can be beneficial to the present students and other fellow alumni in their respective areas of study. Alumni Welfare Association & Department of Civil Engineering jointly organized an online Alumni Interaction program for students on 23 September 2021 from 02:30 pm to 03:30 pm in the seminar hall of the Civil Engineering Department, which had a participation of 48 students. The guest speaker of this program was Alumnus Er. Ahmad Faraz, Co-Founder & Joint Managing Director of Hotspot Construction Company, Uttar Pradesh (India) & Former Senior Quantity Surveyor in Carillion Qatar LLC, Qatar. Dr. Sabih Ahmad, Associate Professor, Department of Civil Engineering welcomed Er. Ahmad Faraz in the program and introduced him to students, on behalf of Head of Department Dr. Syed Aqeel Ahmad.
Er. Ahmad Faraz told the students that there is no other alternative to hard work & sincerity when you are in a job. He discussed that in-depth knowledge of materials is a must for a site engineer. A graduate engineer should gain sufficient knowledge of tests conducted as per the codal provision of concrete-making materials. He also discussed the importance of other international codes such as British and American codes particularly if they are interested in site engineer jobs in Middle East Countries. He also discussed the importance of Civil Engineering software such as MS Project, Primavera used in planning civil engineering projects and designing software such as STAAD-Pro, E-tabs, SAP-2000, etc.
The various doubts in the mind of students related to jobs opportunities and challenges at the construction site were cleared by the speaker while answering questions put up by the students.
Prof. Syed Aqeel Ahmad interacted with the students after the questions and answers session and also honored the guest. He emphasized that students should learn academic thoroughly during their stay in the department and clear their doubts with faculty members. He told the students that the department organizes such programs to boost confidence among them as they can see that our alumni are doing quite well and some of them are also good entrepreneurs. He also discussed job opportunities in civil engineering.
After the program, the Head, Department of Civil Engineering bestowed the Certificate of Appreciation as a token of gratitude to Er. Ahmad Faraz.
The program concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Er. Ali Saad, Coordinator, Alumni Welfare Association Integral University (AWAIU).
