A Communal Harmony Campaign was observed by the Integral University on 22 and 23" November 2018 under the aegis of the National Foundation for Communal Harmony (NFCH), Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. It was volunteered by the students of the Biosciences department, who volunteered with a good faith to instill sentiments of peaceful- coexistence, mutual respect, amity and brotherhood amongst the deprived segments of our society. The campaign was coordinated by Mr Atif, B.Sc. Biotechnology and student volunteers including Ms. Ummey Fatima, Ummey Aiman, Mahak Fatima, Zainab, Ashna, Afreen, Mahvish and Mr. Arsh. The event was successfully executed under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Monowar Alam Khalid (Dean Students' Welfare), Dr. Rolee Sharma and Dr. Swati Sharma, Biosciences department. The camp also received a great help from the High Note Music Society, Integral University, who volunteered their time and performed to attract crowd.
The funds raised were utilized in purchasing suitable goods that we donated to children who had lost their parents, including orphans sheltered in Orphanage Home, aged between 6 years to 18 years. The visit to the orphanage home was made on 15th January 2019, and as per suggestion of the Orphanage Manager, an Aquaguard water purifier was purchased and installed. The other purchase included blankets, stationary items, snacks and a cake as well to add appeal and a tiny twinkle in their eyes. The volunteers also played several games together, talked about their dreams and cut the cake to show our token of affection and interest in their lives.
The University Social Services team 'Nawazish, coordinated by Mrs. Nashra Javed, Department of Computer Application, also provided winter clothes, blankets and money for milk/baby food for infants to some targeted families and their kids. The smiles on the faces of kids who received new clothes and blankets were priceless; they were elated to have those things as a token from our team. We always target to reach the part of society who struggle hard for their livelihood and still not able to meet their basic necessities. Through the platform of Integral University about 350 students and faculties always come forward to give their best initiatives in donation drives.
