DEEKSHARAMBH 2024 Student Induction Program, from 1st August 2024 to 3rd August 2024 organized by DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING INTEGRAL UNIVERSITY, LUCKNOW

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Integral University, Lucknow organized a three-day orientation program named Deeksharambh 2024 for first-year students. The event took place from 1st to 3rd August 2024, at the Central Auditorium, Integral University, running daily from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM. The program aimed to introduce the new students to the department, the faculty, and the university's culture, along with offering opportunities for interaction and engagement through expert lectures, games, and alumni interactions.

Day 1: Introduction and Departmental Overview

The first day of the orientation was hosted by Khateeb Amir Usmani and Hoora Abbas Naqvi. The program commenced with a welcome address by the Head of the Department, Dr. Shish Ahmad, who emphasized the importance of the orientation and the role of the students in the department’s future success. Following this, Dr. Halima Sadia, the Undergraduate Program Coordinator, addressed the students, providing insights into the curriculum and academic expectations. Similar addresses were given by Dr. Roshan Jahan, the UG Kalvim Program Coordinator, Dr. Mohd. Suaib, the PG Program Coordinator, and Dr. Faiyaz Ahmad, the PG Robotics Program Coordinator.

Ms. Saleha Mariyam, the Department Website Coordinator, then gave a detailed explanation of the Captive Portal Login, Student MIS, Institutional email ID, and LMS-ILI, ensuring that the students were well-informed about the technical aspects of their academic journey. Ms. Roshan Jahan, the Department Placement Coordinator, spoke about the placement opportunities and preparation, followed by Dr. Mohd. Haroon, a member of the Department Proctorial Board, who outlined the rules and regulations for maintaining discipline. The session concluded with introductions of the course coordinators and other faculty members, a documentary on computer science, and practical information like displaying group-wise lists of students and QR codes for WhatsApp groups. The morning session ended with a vote of thanks by Khateeb Amir Usmani. In the afternoon, the students were given a guided tour of the central and departmental facilities.

Day 2: Expert Lectures and Interactive Activities

The second day of the orientation, hosted by Humza Anwar Khan and Insha Fatima, featured a series of expert lectures and interactive sessions. The day began with an inspiring expert lecture by Mr. Mohd. Faizan Khan, Assistant Consultant at Tata Consultancy Services, who shared valuable insights from his professional experience. This was followed by a social talk by Ms. Aarshi Ahmed, a psychologist and the founder of Let Mind Speak, focusing on mental health and well-being for students as they transition into university life.

A Senior-Junior Meet and Greet session allowed the new students to interact with their seniors, fostering a sense of community and support. The Active Mind Club (AMC) introduced various clubs under its umbrella, including the Code Club, which organized a Rapid Fire game, engaging students in quick thinking and teamwork. The day concluded with a vote of thanks by Insha Fatima, who also provided information on certification courses available through Etrain India. The afternoon session was again dedicated to guided visits to the central and departmental facilities.

Day 3: Alumni Interactions and Club Activities

The final day of the orientation, hosted by Raksha Hussain, focused on alumni interactions and cultural activities. The day started with a documentary on peer pressure, followed by an alumni interaction session led by Ms. Ankita Yadav, a Computer Educator and Shelter Support Strategist at Make a Difference. She shared her journey and guided the students. This was followed by a documentary on prosperity.

Further documentaries on relationships and basic human aspirations were shown, providing students with broader perspectives on personal and professional growth. The day included cultural activities organized by various AMC clubs, including the Literary Club's "Describe It" game and the Art and Culture Club's "Dialog Detective" activity. The highlight of the day was the "Clash of Clans" game, where students participated in a friendly competition on the football ground, promoting teamwork and camaraderie. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Raksha Hussain, who also informed students about the commencement of classes on 5th August 2024. The event ended with the dispersal of students from the sports ground, marking the conclusion of Deeksharambh 2024.

The entire Deeksharambh 2024 event was meticulously organized by Ms. Anum Kamal, Mentor Coordinator, and Dr. Halima Sadia, ensuring that every detail was perfectly executed. The program was effectively monitored by a team of four Chief Coordinators: Syed Falah Jamal, Md Saad Bin Rizvi, Md Arfakshad, and Zavil Huda Qureshi, who, along with a dedicated team of volunteers, worked tirelessly to make the event a success.

The orientation program was also live-streamed on the Computer Science YouTube channel, a task managed by two CSE students, Abdul Rehman and Aditya Kumar, under the expert guidance of Mohd Amir. Photography throughout the event was led by Shashwat Dwivedi, a CSE student, and his team, capturing the memorable moments and ensuring that the essence of the event was well-documented. Their collective efforts contributed to the seamless execution and overall success of Deeksharambh 2024, leaving a lasting impression on the new batch of students.
