The discipline of nano-science and nano-technology has recently become one of the most important areas of knowledge encompassing various scientific disciplines including physics, chemistry, biology and engineering. This tremendous interest is mainly due to two reasons. Firstly, nanoscale materials have many prospects in various technological applications because most of the time, they show novel functionalities. Secondly, there is tremendous scope for creating new knowledge in explaining the size dependencies of the evolution of various physical properties, and in explaining new and previously unnoticed features etc. Nano-structured materials can be utilized in fabricating novel active devices with improved functionalities.
To make the students aware and spark an interest in the revolutionary field of Nano-science and Nano-technology, the Department of Physics, Integral University, organised an online Guest Lectures on “Introduction to Nano-science and Nano-technology”on12th November, 2022 from 10:00 AM-12:00 Noon in room number NLT-5 and Auditorium Hall-1 and 2. The event was attended by more than 300 students of various disciplines. The event was also streamed live through the official YouTube channel of the Physics Department, Integral University, Lucknow. The program started with the welcome address of the Guest Speaker, Professor Bal Chand Yadav, Head and Dean, School of Physical and Decision Sciences, BBAU Lucknow by Ms. Eram Fatima, Student of M.Sc. Physics, 2nd Year. After a brief introduction, she invited Professor Bal Chand Yadav to deliver his talk.
Professor B. C. Yadav started his lecture from the very basic understanding of the nano-scale and gradually covered almost all the aspects of nano-science and nano-technology ranging from the fabrication of nano – devices to their applications in every walk of life. He also shed light on the description of nano functional devices in ancient text like Vedas. He also emphasized that this is just the beginning of a life changing science and technology and encouraged the students to make their career in the field of nano-science and nano-technology as it has enormous potential in the years to come. At the end of lecture an online question – answer session was also organized where students put up their queries and Professor B.C. Yadav answered them to their satisfaction.
The program ended on a very high note with the Vote of Thanks by Ms. Warisha Fatima, student of M.Sc. Physics, 1st year, where she expressed the gratitude on the behalf of one and all to Professor B.C. Yadav for enlightening the Young Minds with his enthusiastic lecture. She also thanked the Management of Integral University for providing the opportunity and right platform to conduct such scientific and informative lecture. The program was coordinated by Dr. Syed Salman Ahmad Warsi and the technical aspects of the program were taken care of by Dr. Haroon.
