Report on Three-Day International Workshop on Psychotherapeutic Modalities: An Interventional Approach

The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at Integral University, Lucknow, organized a comprehensive workshop titled “Three-Day International Workshop on Psychotherapeutic Modalities: An Interventional Approach” from the 1st to the 3rd of May, 2024. The workshop aimed to explore various psychotherapeutic modalities and their practical applications in intervention. It brought together experts and participants from across India, fostering a rich exchange of ideas and experiences in the field of psychotherapy. The workshop was on hybrid mode and more than 80 participants joined offline and more than 100 participants actively joined online.

The workshop commenced with an inaugural session graced by esteemed presence and blessings of Prof. Javed Musarrat, the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Integral University, Lucknow, and Dr. Syed Nadeem Akhtar, the Hon’ble Pro-Chancellor of Integral University, Lucknow, Chief Guest, Prof. Sam Manickam, Former Professor and HoD of SRAHER, Chennai, and Revered Guest, Prof. Girishwar Misra, Vice Chancellor, Mahatma Gandhi Antarrashtriya Hindi Vishvidyalay, who joined online.

All the dignitaries were warmly welcomed by Prof. Zeba Aqil, Head, Department of Humanities & Social Sciences. The program was anchored by Dr. Farah Shoaib, Assistant Professor and vote of thanks for the session was given by Dr. Archana Pandey, Assistant Professor, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Day 1: Dr. Ashutosh Srivastava, an expert in the field, conducted a session on Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy, providing valuable insights into these modalities. Following this, Dr. Krishna Dutt delved into the depths of Psychoanalysis, enriching participants with the theoretical foundations and practical applications of this approach.

Day 2: Day two featured sessions by eminent experts in the field. Dr. Archana Shukla teaching Transactional Analysis, shedding light on its principles and techniques for interpersonal understanding and communication. Prof. Sam Manickam shared expertise on Integrative Therapies Techniques, offering participants a holistic perspective on psychotherapeutic interventions. Dr. Anjali Gupta conducted an engaging session on Yoga, Mindfulness, and Meditation, emphasizing the role of these practices in promoting mental well-being and emotional resilience.

Day 3: The final day of the workshop continued to explore diverse psychotherapeutic modalities. Prof. Anand Pratap Singh led a session on Neuro Biofeedback Therapy, demonstrating innovative techniques for regulating brain activity and enhancing self-regulation skills. Dr. Tushar Singh introduced Cognitive Behavioral Techniques, equipping participants with practical strategies for identifying and modifying maladaptive thoughts and behaviors. Dr. Durgesh Upadhaya concluded the workshop with a session on Music Therapy, highlighting the therapeutic potential of music in alleviating psychological distress and promoting emotional expression.

The workshop concluded with a valedictory session graced by Prof. Neena Kohli, former Head of the Department of Psychology, University of Allahabad, as the Guest of Honor. Certificates were awarded to all participants, acknowledging their active participation and commitment to professional development in the field of psychotherapy.

The Three-Day International Workshop on Psychotherapeutic Modalities proved to be a significant platform for knowledge exchange and skill enhancement in the realm of psychotherapy. Through insightful sessions conducted by esteemed experts, participants gained valuable insights into various therapeutic approaches and their practical applications in clinical settings. The workshop highlighted the importance of ongoing education and collaboration in advancing the field of psychotherapy and promoting mental health and well-being in diverse populations.

The workshop was conducted successfully, demonstrating that the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences remains attentive to the needs of students and academia for practical knowledge acquisition. Prof. Zeba Aqil, Head of the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, concluded the valedictory session with enlightening and motivating words, encouraging the implementation of these learnings in practice. She also highlighted the new pathways of interaction that have opened between academia and practical applications.

All the distinguished guests and the Organising committee members were honoured with a memento as a token of appreciation for their contribution
