The National Service Scheme (NSS 2020). Integral University, Lucknow to promote the Voters Awareness campaign has conducted an extension activity under SVEEP program.
Significance of the Activity:
"The ignorance of one Voter in a democracy impairs the Security of all” —John F Kennedy
In democracy, it is not simply enough to inform voters about election dates. In order to help the electorate’s lake an informed decision, it is quintessential to sensitize them about the importance of participating in the electoral process. Moreover, voters need to be educated about the process and made aware of the political parties, their manifestos. Backgrounds of the contesting candidates and armed with several other information to help them cast an 'enlightened' vote.
Activities Performed:
The program officer, Dr. Sheeba Penmen along with 50 Students NSS Volunteers Integral University, Lucknow reached to the Prathmik Vidhyalaya, Adhar Khera Bakshi ka Talab, Lucknow. After reaching the PralhmikVidhyalaya, they interacted with the staff members and nearby villagers. After that student's volunteers start progression moves around the village, and after that team has been divided into small groups of 5 and visited almost all houses to get them aware regarding the rights of voters and Importance of Voting. Students Volunteers has utilized this day to spread awareness among the people about the importance of voting and participating in the electoral process of one of the world’s second largest democracy. All of villagers specially youth were very curious about the activity and when they were briefed about the importance of their voting rights they were listing it very calmly. Youth of the village has taken pledge:
“हम भारत के नागरिक, लोकतंत्र में अपनी पूर्ण आस्था रखते हुए यह शपथ लेते हैं कि हम अपने देश
की लोकतांत्रिक परम्पराओं की मर्यादा को बनाए रखेंगे तथा स्वतंत्र, निष्पक्ष एवं शान्तिपूर्ण निवार्चन की
गरिमा को अक्षुण्ण रखते हुए, निर्भीक होकर, धर्म, वर्ग, जाति, समुदाय, भाषा अथवा अन्य किसी भी
प्रलोभन से प्रभावित हुए बिना सभी निर्वाचनों मे अपने मताधिकार का प्रयोग करेंगे। “
