The Department of Community Medicine, Integral Institute of Medical Sciences & Research (IIMSR), Integral University, organised a Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme on 13 May 2026 as part of Dengue Awareness Week (11–16 May 2026) in observance of National Dengue Day 2026. The programme was conducted under the theme “Fight Dengue, Save Lives” with the objective of enhancing awareness regarding dengue and other vector-borne diseases.
The CME commenced with a welcome address by Prof. Abha Chandra, Dean, IIMSR, who emphasised the importance of community participation, preventive measures, and timely intervention in combating dengue and other mosquito-borne diseases.
The academic sessions featured distinguished experts from the field. Dr. Arupit Patnaik, State Lead, PATH, Uttar Pradesh, delivered an insightful lecture on “Recent Advances in Dengue Diagnosis and Case Classification.” Dr. Ramesh Chandra, Retired Entomologist, Government of Uttar Pradesh, presented an expert talk on “Bionomics of Aedes aegypti: Implications for Dengue Transmission,” highlighting the role of vector behaviour in disease spread. Dr. Aviral Yadav addressed participants on “Clinical Management of Dengue: Fluid Therapy and Referral Guidelines,”focusing on evidence-based approaches to patient care.
The programme aimed to educate students, healthcare professionals, and the community about the causes, symptoms, prevention, and treatment of dengue, while also creating awareness about other significant vector-borne diseases such as Kala-Azar, Filariasis, and Japanese Encephalitis (JE).
The CME concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. (Dr.) Gulfam Ahmed Hashmi, Professor, Department of Community Medicine, IIMSR. The event successfully promoted interdisciplinary learning, strengthened public health awareness, and reaffirmed the collective commitment towards reducing the burden of dengue and other vector-borne diseases.
