Expert Lecture on “Leadership and Emotional Intelligence”

The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering, Integral University, Lucknow, organized an Expert / Guest Lecture on “Leadership and Emotional Intelligence” on 30 January 2026 (Friday) as part of its continuous efforts to enhance the academic, professional, and interpersonal competencies of students and faculty members. The session aimed to sensitize participants to the importance of leadership skills and emotional intelligence in achieving academic excellence, professional success, and personal growth.

The department had the privilege of hosting Dr. S. M. Kaunain Abidi, Faculty, Soft Skills Department, ERA University. Dr. Abidi is a distinguished academician and a renowned expert in the areas of soft skills, leadership development, emotional intelligence, and personality enhancement. His extensive teaching and training experience has significantly contributed to shaping students’ professional behavior and leadership mindset.

Objectives of the Lecture

The key objectives of the expert lecture were to:

  • Create awareness about the concept and importance of leadership in academic and professional life.

  • Develop understanding of emotional intelligence and its role in self-management and interpersonal relationships.

  • Enhance communication skills, teamwork, and ethical decision-making.

  • Motivate students to cultivate positive attitudes, confidence, and professional ethics.

Highlights of the Session

The session commenced with a warm welcome of Dr. Abidi by Prof. S. Hasan Saeed, Head, Department of ECE. In his address, Dr. Abidi explained the evolving role of leadership in today’s competitive and technology-driven environment. He emphasized how emotional intelligence complements technical expertise and enables individuals to manage stress, build strong relationships, and lead teams effectively.

The speaker elaborated on the core components of emotional intelligence, including self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills. Through practical examples, real-life case studies, and interactive discussions, he helped participants connect theoretical concepts with real-world situations.
