The Gender Champions Club under the aegis of the Dean, Students’ Welfare, Integral University, in collaboration with the Faculty of Education, successfully organized an insightful Guest Lecture on the topic “Gender Sensitization: Rise for Equality” on 14th October 2025. The programme was conducted in compliance with Ref. No. IU/RO/GA/Notification/2024/Gender Champions/97 with the objective of promoting awareness regarding gender equality, inclusivity, and social responsibility among students.
The lecture witnessed enthusiastic participation from 89 students belonging to various departments of the University. The event was graced by the presence of distinguished dignitaries including Dr. Adya Shakti Rai, the keynote speaker for the session; Prof. (Dr.) Monowar Alam Khalid; Prof. (Dr.) A. K. Lodi; and Dr. Ekhlak Ahmad, along with faculty members and students.
The programme commenced with an introductory address by Dr. Vivek Rogers, who highlighted the significance of gender sensitization in fostering an equitable and progressive society. This was followed by a soulful welcome rendition by Dr. Noorain Anas, which set an inspiring tone for the session.
Welcoming the dignitaries and participants, Prof. (Dr.) Monowar Alam Khalid emphasized the importance of recognizing and addressing gender inequities embedded within societal structures. He encouraged students to promote empathy, respect, and equality while challenging stereotypes and biases that hinder social progress.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Ekhlak Ahmad underlined the role of education in creating awareness about gender equality and non-discrimination. Referring to Sustainable Development Goal 5 – Gender Equality, he stated that equal rights and opportunities for all genders are fundamental to a democratic society.
Thereafter, Dr. Suman P. Ranjan formally introduced the keynote speaker, followed by bouquet felicitation by the esteemed dignitaries.
In her enlightening lecture, Dr. Adya Shakti Rai elaborated on the concept of gender as a social construct shaped by cultural and societal influences. She distinguished between biological sex and gender identity, while also discussing gender expression and its relation to societal norms. She further explained the difference between gender equality and gender equity, emphasizing that equitable support systems are essential for achieving true equality.
The speaker also highlighted various forms of sex-based and gender-based discrimination prevailing in workplaces, educational institutions, and communities. She encouraged students to question traditional stereotypes and contribute towards building a more inclusive and diverse society through awareness, dialogue, and advocacy.
The session concluded with remarks by Prof. (Dr.) Adnan Khan Lodi, who reiterated the importance of gender sensitization and proactive advocacy for equal rights and opportunities. He further shared that the University continuously strives to strengthen female representation in academic and administrative leadership roles.
The programme concluded with the presentation of tokens of appreciation to the guests and a formal vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Dhriti Tiwari. She expressed sincere gratitude to the resource person, dignitaries, coordinators, volunteers, and participants for making the event meaningful and impactful. The organizers also acknowledged the continuous support of Integral University in promoting equality, inclusivity, and holistic development among students.
