Mechanical Engineering Students Visit MSME Technology Centre, Kanpur

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Integral University, Lucknow, in collaboration with the ASME Section Lucknow, organized an industrial visit to the MSME Technology Centre, Kanpur, for ASME student members on April 6, 2026.

The visit was organized with the objective of providing students with practical exposure to industrial development activities, entrepreneurship support systems, and modern manufacturing practices. It aimed to strengthen the connection between classroom learning and real-world industrial applications while enhancing students’ understanding of the role of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the nation’s economic development.

The MSME Technology Centre, Kanpur, functioning under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India, plays a significant role in promoting industrial growth through technical consultancy, skill development programmes, entrepreneurship support, and technology-driven solutions for small and medium enterprises.

During the visit, students attended an orientation session conducted by officials of the Centre, who highlighted the contribution of MSMEs to economic growth, employment generation, industrial innovation, and national development. The participants were also introduced to various government schemes and support mechanisms available for startups and emerging entrepreneurs.

The students toured several advanced facilities, including training laboratories, testing centres, and manufacturing workshops. Experts demonstrated quality testing procedures, product development activities, and technological solutions designed to help industries enhance productivity and maintain quality standards.

A highly engaging interactive session with industry experts provided students with valuable insights into entrepreneurship, business establishment processes, government funding opportunities, and emerging technological trends in manufacturing. The experts encouraged students to explore innovation-driven career opportunities and consider entrepreneurship as a viable professional pathway.

The visit proved to be highly informative and enriching, offering participants a deeper understanding of industrial practices, government initiatives, and the entrepreneurial ecosystem supporting MSMEs. It also provided valuable exposure to the challenges and opportunities associated with modern manufacturing and industrial development.

The visit was conducted under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) P. K. Bharti, Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering, and was coordinated by Dr. Shara Khursheed, ASME Coordinator and Assistant Professor, along with Dr. Kamran Rasheed, Assistant Professor. Their efforts ensured the successful organization of the visit and a meaningful learning experience for the students.
